Purple Puffballs

I don't know what these pretty flowers are called, but I want some. I saw them on the side of an apartment building on my way to work and I stopped immediately. They look like huge purple dandelions. I love dandelions.

I am also very pleased with the way the pictures turned out. Its the same grouping of flowers from two angles, but they look so different. I liked them so much that I printed them out 5x7 and framed them with 1 inch solid black frames and rearranged my entire living room around them. Now my room looks great and I smile every time I walk in. Pretty flowers make me happy.

River Flowers

I don't understand how these flowers grow in the river like this. It's not very deep, of course, but still. Why don't they wash downstream?

Anyway, I think it's pretty and so I took this picture.

Happy Memorial Day!

Flower and Paint

This is one of the last pieces I painted in college. That was 6 years ago, before I learned how to properly photograph framed are without flash spots. I remember every day that I worked on this. I can practically hear the music that was playing in the background and I know what outfits I was wearing and who was with me. I don't know why I remember these day so clearly nothing special happened, but they are some of my most vivid memories.

Painting this made me happy, something I am often not. I wish I could feel that way all the time. I wish I could paint everyday.

Charcoal and Newsprint

I love this sketch. I know its not perfect or as complete as I would have liked but I adore it. I think the shading is lovely and am very pleased with the way the face turned out because it was an especially difficult angle for me. I put a lot of work into this and it was worth every minute.

Thanks for stopping by.

Titles are nice

I painted this for my "gentleman caller." We saw it in Z-Gallerie and couldn't afford it, but he loved it so much I said I could try to copy it for him. On the top is the Original (obviously) below that is my attempt to copy it. He thinks I did a great job; I am pleased, but not impressed.

Anyway, its been a lot of flowers and not many paintings, so enjoy.

And remember, I said I copied it. I did not claim it as original. I am not breaking any copyright laws. Thanks.

Last Spring

No time today for thoughts or uploading, so here are some photos I took last spring and plan to print out 4x4 and then frame with white mats in 12x12 frames. I think they will look great as a series.

I need to learn more about PhotoShop

So, I like the way this picture looks after my 5 seconds of messing with it in whatever program my computer automatically picks for me when I open pictures, but what I really wanted to do was put everything in grayscale except the moss and that little bit of grass.

I think I will try to take a class in PhotoShop over the summer so that I can start getting what I want instead of giving up with something that is just good enough. I want perfection.

Anyway, that's all for today. I'm going to try to improve my posting frequency; no guarantees.
